SAMPLE PROJECTS
  • 65 MW Co-Generation Project
    Tacoma, Washington, US
Our pulp and paper client identified an opportunity to optimize steam resources and increase revenue by installing a 65 MW condensing steam turbine/generator set. Mill wide steam consumption was reviewed and maximum efficiency gained by converting several turbine drives to electric; optimizing steam generating boilers; and installing the turbine generator & associated equipment. The scope of the TG project involves turbine, new condenser, new mill-wide steam piping, cooling towers, electrical switchgear, controls, engineering and implementation assistance.

Sacré-Davey Engineering provided definition level engineering services to develop preliminary process design and cost estimate for this project. Work includes purchase and installation of a TG set and ancillary equipment; process control systems; grid interconnection and protection, major switchgear and substation.

Now in implementation stage, work continues on an EPCM basis for the equipment specification & procurement, detailed process mechanical, electrical instrumentation, and controls engineering, with ongoing project/construction management support.
  • Turbine Generator Project
    Confidential Client
Sacré-Davey Engineering provided the engineering for a Power Generation Facility turbine generator building and the associated electrical yard / MCC room for a confidential client. This work involved the structural design of the Turbine Generator foundation including the “tuning” of the foundation to meet the vendor’s vibration limitations, the design of the Turbine Generator building, and the electrical yard and MCC room / office building.
  • Hog Handling System for Crestbrook Cogen
    Stothert Engineering Ltd. Vancouver, BC
Complete mechanical and structural engineering services for the design of a new hog receiving, screening, stacking, reclaim, conveying and boiler feed system for the Crestbrook Forest Industries 50MW cogen project. Services were provided to CFI by subcontract to Stothert.
  • Eurocan Pulp and Paper
    Kitimat, BC
Turbo generator feasibility study estimates, new turbo generator building and foundation, and in concert with balanced power engineering, provision of detailed design for same.
  • Thermal Energy Plant, Sacré-Coeur, Qué.
    Salton Fabrication, Surrey, BC
Civil and structural design services for the fabrication and installation of a thermal energy plant in Sacré-Coeur, Qué.
  • Nemiah Valley Powerhouse
    Morrow, BC
Civil and structural design services were performed for the installation of a new diesel generating powerhouse.
  • Sand Silo
    Secon, Port Alberni, BC
Detailed engineering for the reuse of the existing ash clarifier as a sand storage silo, to provide sand to the new fluidized bed on power boiler #4. The project includes for the modification of the existing clarifier, new materials handling equipment and foundations.
OTHER SAMPLE ELECTRICAL PROJECTS
  • New power, distribution and control system for a 30,000 gallon per day effluent treatment plant.
  • Engineering and design, construction and commissioning of a fully redundant 260kV/72kV, 70/93/116 MVA substation. The ground grid design is unique because of soil conditions of the area and involved an interconnection of deep well grounds and the substation grid to achieve the required step, touch and GPR values. Project included control building design and construction, foundation and structural engineering, design of rigid bus system and equipment structures.
  • Engineering, design and construction for five electrical substations ranging from 69kV through 138kV up to 230kV on five 36 MVA substations across Canada. Project also included liaison with three provincial electrical utility authorities. complex-grounding solutions, structural engineering and protective device coordination studies for the total associated plants. These substations included 13.8kV, 18 MVAR harmonic filter banks.
  • Negotiating with electrical utility and evaluation of options for 138, 69 or 25kV supply to obtain the optimal method of interconnection between IPP facility and the power grid system. Preparing application to AEUB for permit and license to construct 138kV line. This included an environmental impact study, public meetings and land acquisition on behalf of the client. This resulted in the design and construction of a 138kV transmission line and associated 138/13.8kV substation.
  • Engineering Design and construction requirements to upgrade existing 69kV substation from 33 MVA to 66 MVA including primary and secondary switchgear, grounding requirements, protection and control.
  • Mine-wide system analysis and protective device coordination study. Loan flow and voltage analysis of pit overhead system to accept new Hanischfe gear 2800 x PB shovel. This resulted in engineering to upgrade and existing 4.16kV line, to 13.8kV including all transformation, switchgear and protection.
