  • Hydrogen Recovery System     view details
    Questair Technologies at NRC
    SDE provided full EPCM services for the design, specification, installation and commissioning of a new Hydrogen Recovery System to reduce QuestAir’s operating costs at their NRC testing facility. The new system is capable of recovering the exhaust gases from the QuestAir’s PSA testing rigs, re-mixed, re-compress and store them for reuse. The recovery system reduced dramatically the costs associated with the usage of pure gases for the long duration tests conducted to prove the new generation of PSA.
  • Hydrogen Recovery and Utilization System

    Definition Level Study of a $20,000,000 integrated waste hydrogen gas collection, purification, compression, storage and distribution facility. Flow up to 5,500,000 scfd of hydrogen need to be collected from 2 separate sources, dehydrated, scrubbed of contaminants using SDE’s proprietary ScrubTech technology and ultimately purified using Pressure Swing Adsorption Technology. Purified gas was compressed to 5000 psig using a combination of reciprocating and diaphragm compressors and stored in carbon fiber-reinforced aluminum storage tanks. Overflow gas is piped to combustion in a boiler. SDE provided full project scope definition, project management, engineering, HAZOP and instrumentation.
  • LNG Test Cell Design
    Westport Innovation Inc.
    Engineering services to design new LNG distribution system for Westport’s test cell work. The new distribution system supplies pressurized natural gas (5,00 psig) from LNG during peak usage periods. The system makes use of a cryogenic LNG pump and an evaporator and links this supply with the existing compressed NG system. Work included process, mechanical, structural, and electrical design work.
  • Compressed Hydrogen and Other Gas Delivery System
    Questair Technologies at NRC
    Full EPCM services for the design, specification and installation of a new 600 PSIG gas delivery system. Gases included CO2, H2, Natural Gas, Oxygen, and CO, and includes the provision for a CO2 compressor. The system designed to provide Questair with fuel for distribution, testing and fueling capability to enable them to test their new generation gas purifiers.
  • Hydrogen Recovery System
    Confidential Client
    Conceptual Design and Study of a $16,000,000 hydrogen gas collection, purification, compression, storage and distribution facility. The design challenge was to economically recapture the exhausted hydrogen at atmospheric pressure without contaminating it with air that might create potentially explosive conditions within the re-circulating loop. SDE provided full Haz-Ops for the proposed design.
  • Piping Stress Analysis of New 12” Steam Line
    Harmac Pulp, Nanaimo, BC.
    Detailed structural and mechanical engineering services for the stress analysis of a new 160 pound steam line from Recovery Boiler #6 to Pulp Machine #3. Included recommendation for Seismic restraints.
  • Steam Piping Design and Stress Analysis
    Matrix Engineering, Vancouver, BC.
    Detailed engineering services for the design, detailing and stress analysis of a new 150-pound steam line for Westcoast Reduction's new Nanaimo plant.
  • Upgrade of PM1 Condensate Return System
    Domtar Inc. – Island Paper Mills, Delta, B.C.
    Detailed piping design and stress analysis of condensate return from Paper Machine No. 1 to the condensate storage tank. Included in the scope was to obtain pricing for supply and installation, and the registration of the piping system with the BC Boiler Branch.
  • Steam Line to APS-4
    Quesnel River Pulp Company, Quesnel, BC
    Detailed design and stress analysis of pipe routing of new steam line to APS-4, design of piping tie-in on site, and performed stress analysis of new line. Submission of application to the Boiler Branch for design registration of new piping. Scope of Work included investigation of plugging problems in steam system and to propose solutions.
  • NCG Line Stress Analysis
    R.A. Oakley Ltd. Vancouver, BC
    Performed stress analysis for Non-Condensable Gas line on top the Digester in GVRD’s Annacis Island Treatment Plant. Recommended pipe restraints to be used.
