EPCM of Ore Sorting Plant

Project Description

The acid-generating stockpiles and the distance between the mine and the mill was not only expensive, but also very difficult to manage at the Bonanza Ledge Gold Mine. An opportunity was identified to sort the sulfides carrying gold, and only ship the high-quality material at a very low cost.

Scope of Work

Sacré-Davey was responsible for the detailed engineering, procurement support, and construction management of an XRT sorter at the Bonanza Ledge Gold mine.

Challenges

This project was located in BC, in a remote town that experiences heavy snowfalls. This was an engineering challenge for designing the structure, as well as a feed preparation challenge.

Solutions

In consultation with experienced senior engineers from Sacré-Davey, the team was able to provide high quality engineering, meet- ing client’s expectations on schedule and under budget.

Achievements

Sacré-Davey’s experienced team completed the EPCM proj- ect without exceeding the budget. Although minor challenges were faced during the construction, the project progressed very smoothly due to the familiarity of the scope to the Sacré-Davey’s project team.

The capital cost of the sorting plant at Barkerville was $4M. Barkerville’s plant is the first gold-sorting plant in Canada.
